Infinite canvas is still finite

Finished page 5, which is quite a surprise realizing the lack of sleep I had today. More comments and whining might come later this week when I’ll have more energy.

Also watched the F1 GP today, I still can’t figure out whether to like the non-refueling rule. It is certainly a different game now.

Deck building

The work on page 5 is going well. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it for next weekend, because that would mean that the digital processing was a week. I switched to the right page and dpi settings, and now I do not have to fight the Gimp anymore on those settings.

I’m busy with deck building for page 5. I did fall back on the technique from page 3, making 30 cm of hallway and cut the part you need. As said earlier, background experiments will start from page 6.

Sort of background

Only panels 3 and 4 are affected by the quick-do-a-background thingy. They do not turn out wrong, it is even ok. It was, however, not exactly what I had in mind (my mind always raises the bar way too high). I already had spend too long on the page, so I did not try more background techniques. That is something for page 6 and further. In order to keep the fun in the project I really need to finish comics within a month time, so don’t be surprised to see quick solutions in the future.

Page 5 is scanned and the text is still rough, but I think I can keep the production time low. So with page 6 and 7 written and sketched, everything going well. Even when I’ll start using the infinite canvas for page 5 and the other two pages will be 1 strip. Infinite canvas will only be a problem when you print stuff, something I do not foresee for this comic.

To background or not to background

Page 4 is nearly finished, the only thing that I might want to do is some backgrounds. Having some blurry colourful background just finishes a panel, because the characters will stick out more. I was looking for some manual for doing backgrounds like in the comic Machall. Their howto speeds up on this last part. I guess I need some experiments to get a decent background, that does not take hours to create. For page 5 I hope to switch to scanning a pen trace and colour the scan in the Gimp. The colouring does not take much time after I figured out how certain things worked, and I do not want to spend more than a week (2 weeks) on a page. This mostly because I loose interest on a page/comic after a week.

Serious gaming

When you game, you should do it seriously ;) .

This was the best shot from a couple of photos. All the others where shot right in front of the guitar and those just missed something. Maybe I’m getting an eye for such things.
